  • Curb-Alert PRO: A Slimmer and Smarter Successor

2nd-Gen Advanced Warning System Offers More Installation Options; Broader Vehicle Compatibility

Ann Arbor, Mich., November 1, 2011 –  Brandmotion, award-winning supplier of OEM-grade, integrated solutions for cars and trucks, announced that Curb-Alert PRO, the successor to the top-selling Curb-Alert, is available and shipping.

Curb-Alert PRO builds upon the innovative Curb-Alert advanced warning system. Like its predecessor, Curb-Alert PRO warns the driver as he or she nears an obstruction—such as a curb or parking block—which could scrape the front bumper or cause it to catch and result in significant damage when trying to back the vehicle up. A series of beeps alerts the driver, allowing the vehicle to stop at a safe distance from the obstruction.

“We showed Curb-Alert at the SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) Show last year and were swamped with inquiries,” said Jeff Varick, president of Brandmotion. “Retailers and end users were impressed by its unique functionality and rock-solid, hassle-free operation. Our customers agreed that two trends in vehicle design – lower fascias for improved vehicle mileage and more integrated front-end designs for better looks – contribute to a growing front end damage problem that Curb Alert prevents”.

Curb Alert ProThe Curb-Alert PRO is designed for professional installation and is accompanied by a three-year, 36,000-mile warranty. The weatherproof sensor, which mounts under a vehicle’s bumper or behind the grille, has been redesigned to be 50 percent smaller than the original, with more included brackets to fit a wider variety of vehicles and applications. Its connector to the internal module has also been strengthened for enhanced reliability and the module casing includes more mounting options to benefit installation technicians.

In addition to these enhancements, the power connections have been modified to enable the Curb-Alert PRO to turn and off with the vehicle’s ignition, eliminating potential issues with electronic charging systems on some newer and hybrid vehicles. Programming the Curb-Alert PRO has been made simpler as well with a one-time, two-step process that calibrates the system based on its mounting location and desired alert distance.

“We’ve received a lot of input from installing technicians, not only about how the product works, but about small issues that came up during the installation process,” continued Varick. “As a result we focused on improvements in both the hardware and software to make the installation more efficient.”

Curb-Alert PRO replaces the original Curb-Alert and carries an MSRP of $249.95. For more information, visit the Curb-Alert PRO page on Brandmotion’s Website at http://www.brandmotion.com/curb-alert/curb-alert-242.html.

  • Brandmotion to Offer Standalone Versions of FIAT Enhancements

“The FIAT Project” produces 4 new products that will be available for any new vehicle

Ann Arbor, Michigan, November 1, 2011 – Brandmotion LLC, award-winning supplier of OEM-grade, integrated safety and convenience products for cars and trucks, announced that it  will offer many of the technology products used to enhance the company’s 2012 FIAT 500 SEMA booth vehicle as standalone additions for other vehicles. The company partnered with FIAT to showcase aftermarket products in the 2012 FIAT 500 Sport at the upcoming SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) show in Las Vegas.

“Our experience in planning, presenting and implementing the FIAT enhancements through our ‘Urban Loft’ concept enabled us to showcase a variety of products that added to the entertainment value, safety and practicality of the vehicle,” said Jeff Varick, president of Brandmotion. “As a result, we will be including these products in our 2012 lineup, available for any number of vehicles and applications.”

Customized Audio Reproduction With Bongiovi DPS
The FIAT audio system was enhanced with a radical new audio concept by Bongiovi Acoustics, a Port Saint Lucie, Fla.-based company with a storied 35-year history in professional audio reproduction. Digital Power Station (DPS), a technology grown from the company’s music industry background, is a software solution that analyzes the vehicle acoustics and audio reproduction, then adjusts the outputs levels and frequencies for accurate audio playback based on the specifics of the vehicle.

“The strength of DPS by Bongiovi is not only its amazing transformation of the audio signal based on the individual vehicle, but its real-world benefit of not having to replace the factory audio system or add visible aftermarket components that could increase the chance for theft,” explained Varick.

External Fascia Protection With Curb-Alert Pro
The FIAT 500 was also outfitted with the innovative Curb-Alert Pro, an integrated system that helps to eliminate front-end damage to the vehicle bumper or spoiler caused by running into or scraping over curbs or parking blocks. The system uses a highly sensitive, miniature sensor mounted in the bumper area to detect proximity to an obstruction. This sends a signal to the internally mounted control unit, which in turn warns the driver of the obstruction with a series of audible tones. Operation is automatic, with the system turning on and off with the vehicle’s ignition.

Wireless Charging Maintains a Clean, Uncluttered Look
In order to maintain the unblemished look and feel of the FIAT 500’s interior, Brandmotion installed a unique wireless charging system for smartphones. The Freedom Charge enables the driver or passenger to charge a smartphone equipped with the new Qi charging standard by simply placing it on the supplied charging pad. There are no wires to connect between the charging system and the phone.

“We felt this was an important addition because it speaks to the modern driver’s dependence on the smartphone,” said Varick. “Previous solutions always involved plugging a cord into the device to charge, resulting in unsightly cords that tangle. Now with the improved capability of Bluetooth to carry audio and playback control, we’ve introduced a wireless solution for the charging component as well.”

A Stylish, Functional Addition Affords a Better Rear View
The factory mirror on the FIAT 500 was replaced with the new Infinity Mirror, providing an enhanced, edge-to-edge viewing area finished in a polished surround. The Infinity Mirror comes in four flavors: Prismatic, auto-dimming, auto dimming with compass and temperature, and auto-dimming with built-in gate / garage door controls.

The four new vehicle enhancements will become available for other new vehicle applications as follows:

Part Number MSRP For Sale Date
    Bongiovi DPS 9002-9800 $699.95 1/16/2012
    Curb-Alert Pro 5000-CA5 $249.95 Now
    Freedom Charge 9002-9900 $379.95 12/15/2011
    Infinity Mirror 9002-9700 TBD 1/27/12

The “Urban Loft” concept vehicle will make its debut in the Brandmotion booth (North Hall, #11661) at the SEMA Show, held Nov. 1-4 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, then travel to select shows and events nationwide.

FIAT presented the competition to aftermarket suppliers as a means to generate practical but creative customization options for active, mobile individuals who see driving as fun in addition to a necessity.  FIAT also sought to reinforce the expressive and independent positioning of the FIAT brand through partnerships with aftermarket companies that have shown imagination and freshness in their approach to vehicle personalization.
